About

Alta Lake State Park Campground is a 181-acre camping destination in Okanogan County, Washington, where mountainous pine forests meet the desert landscape. The park sits along Alta Lake, a body of water about 2 miles long and half a mile wide that offers excellent recreational opportunities. The campground features 123 sites including standard campsites and partial-hookup sites, with a maximum site length of 38 feet, plus two group camping areas. The park offers comprehensive amenities including restrooms with showers, drinking water, a dump station, fire pits, picnic tables, and a boat ramp with dock. During the operating season, a concession stand provides snacks, grilled items, camping supplies, firewood, and kayak/paddleboard rentals. Activities include trout fishing, swimming, water skiing, windsurfing, hiking on 2 miles of trails, volleyball, and horseshoe pits. Spring months bring vibrant wildflowers and excellent birdwatching, while black bears and other wildlife can be spotted in surrounding areas. The campground operates seasonally from April through October, with reservations available for most of the season. During October and November (before closure), sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. A Washington State Discover Pass is required for vehicle access. Located just 30 minutes from Lake Chelan, Alta Lake State Park serves as an ideal base for exploring the North Central Washington region.
