About

This small, rustic campground offers 8 tent-only sites, two of which are ADA-accessible. Each site includes a parking area, picnic table, and fire ring. Vault toilets are provided, but there is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. The campground serves as a staging area for backcountry trips into the Eagle Cap Wilderness via the nearby Bear Creek Trailhead. A free wilderness permit is required and can be self-issued at trailhead kiosks. Visitors with stock horses are permitted but must use campsites on the west side of the road. Access is via gravel Forest Roads 8250 and 040 from the town of Wallowa. The campground operates from late May through September and is not maintained in the off-season. Sites are $10 per night and available through Recreation.gov or the on-site self-service fee station. Quiet hours are 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
