About
Bluffview Park is a year-round day-use facility located on the southwest side of B.A. Steinhagen Lake, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Situated in the heart of the East Texas Pineywoods, the park offers visitors a scenic setting for picnicking, fishing, and wildlife observation. The park features one large group picnic shelter equipped with electricity and water, which can be reserved through Recreation.gov. Numerous individual picnic sites are scattered throughout the park, some with shelters, all available on a first-come, first-served basis at no charge. Modern amenities include flush toilets, drinking water, and trash collection. A small convenience store located across the road provides bait, fuel, and ice for visitors. B.A. Steinhagen Lake is known for excellent fishing opportunities, with largemouth bass, catfish, and crappie as the primary sport species. The lake and surrounding area provide habitat for white-tailed deer, squirrels, rabbits, red and gray fox, bobwhite quail, and numerous species of ducks, geese, waterfowl, and songbirds. Nearby attractions include Martin Dies, Jr. State Park, multiple paddling trails, and the Angelina-Neches/Dam B Wildlife Management Area covering nearly 13,000 acres.
