About
Big Lake Premium Camper Cabins are part of Big Lake State Park, a 407-acre park in northwest Missouri adjacent to the state's largest remaining oxbow lake. These wheeled camper cabins were introduced as a flood-resilient lodging option, designed to be relocated to higher ground during Missouri River flood events. The cabins provide modern, comfortable accommodations for visitors looking to experience the unique wetland environment of Big Lake. The park's location on an oxbow lake creates an ideal habitat for wetland bird species and migratory waterfowl, making it a popular destination for bird watchers and nature enthusiasts. The shallow lake supports extensive wetlands and offers excellent fishing opportunities for bluegill, catfish, and carp. Boating access is available via the park's boat launch, with all boat types acceptable on the water. Big Lake State Park underwent major renovations in recent years, including significant campground improvements completed in 2025. The cabins reopened for seasonal use after being closed due to flood damage in 2019. With its combination of comfortable lodging, lake access, and abundant wildlife viewing opportunities, the park serves as an excellent destination for family vacations and outdoor recreation in northwest Missouri.
