About

Indian Cave State Park encompasses rugged bluffs and hardwood forests along the Missouri River in southeast Nebraska. The park's namesake is a large sandstone cave featuring petroglyphs carved by prehistoric Native Americans. Two developed campgrounds, Ash Grove and Hackberry Hollow, provide over 130 electric sites with 30-amp service, and 83 of those sites also offer 50-amp hookups. Modern amenities include showers, flush restrooms, laundry facilities, and a dump station. Beyond the developed campgrounds, the park offers primitive camping in the scenic hills area and a dedicated equestrian campground with 12 corrals, hitching posts, and water hydrants. Backcountry campers can stay in Adirondack shelters along the trail system. The park's 22 miles of hiking trails range from easy to difficult, and 16 miles of equestrian trails wind through the wooded terrain. Recreational opportunities include a disc golf course, outdoor archery range, boat ramp, playground, and horseshoe pits. The park hosts interpretive programs at an outdoor amphitheater. Reservations are accepted up to 180 days in advance for half of the electric sites; the remainder are first-come, first-served.
