About
Bitterroot Flat Campground is located in the Rock Creek drainage of Lolo National Forest, 23 miles south of Interstate 90. The campground sits adjacent to Rock Creek, one of Montana's premier blue ribbon trout streams, in a rugged canyon environment at 4,300 feet elevation. The 15 campsites are situated among ponderosa pine and Douglas-fir trees, with some sites offering proximity to the creek. The campground provides basic amenities including picnic tables and fire rings at each site. Vault toilets are available. Anglers will find exceptional fishing opportunities on Rock Creek. The area experiences moderate use levels during the summer season. Access is via Rock Creek Road #102, a narrow and rough road that is not recommended for trailers, motorhomes, or tow vehicles. The campground is open year-round depending on snow conditions, with fees charged during the peak season from May through September. Bear safety and food storage requirements are in effect.
Directions
20 miles east of Missoula on Interstate 90, take Rock Creek exit #126 onto Rock Creek Road. Drive south for 23 miles along Rock Creek Road #102. Trailers, motorhomes and tow vehicles not recommended due to the narrow and rough road.
