About
Dalles Campground is situated in the scenic Rock Creek drainage of Lolo National Forest, nestled in a mixed conifer forest above Rock Creek. The campground provides access to one of Montana's most celebrated blue ribbon trout streams within a rugged canyon environment. Located 14.5 miles south of Interstate 90 along Rock Creek Road, the campground offers a peaceful setting surrounded by dense forest with the sounds of rushing creek water below. The narrow and rough access road makes this campground less suitable for large trailers, motorhomes, and tow vehicles, contributing to a more intimate camping atmosphere. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations accepted, and fills quickly during summer months due to the area's popularity with fly fishermen and outdoor recreationists. Rock Creek's reputation as a premier fishing destination draws anglers from across the region. The surrounding Lolo National Forest offers additional recreational opportunities including hiking and wildlife viewing. Bear safety and food storage requirements are in effect throughout the forest, and campers must properly store all food and attractants.
Directions
From Missoula, travel 20 miles east on Interstate 90 to Rock Creek Exit 126. Turn onto Rock Creek Road #102 and travel 14.5 miles south. The road is narrow and rough; trailers, motorhomes, and tow vehicles are not recommended.
