About

Dalles Campground occupies a scenic position above Rock Creek in the Lolo National Forest's Rock Creek drainage. The setting is a mixed conifer forest typical of western Montana's mountain valleys, with the creek below offering some of the state's best trout fishing. Rock Creek is designated a blue-ribbon trout stream, drawing anglers from across the region. The campground provides basic amenities including flush toilets and drinking water from a hand pump. Sites include picnic tables. This is a primitive camping experience with no hookups, showers, or dump stations. Pets are permitted but must be kept on a 6-foot leash; pack and saddle stock are not allowed. Access is via Rock Creek Road, a narrow and rough route that makes the campground unsuitable for trailers, motorhomes, and tow vehicles. The tradeoff for the challenging access is a quieter, more secluded camping experience in quality trout water habitat.

Directions

From Missoula, drive 20 miles east on Interstate 90 to Rock Creek exit #126. Turn onto Rock Creek Road and travel 14.5 miles south on Rock Creek Road #102. Note: Trailers, motorhomes, and tow vehicles are not recommended due to the narrow and rough road.
