About
Beartown State Forest campground is a small, intimate camping destination nestled within 12,000 acres of forest in the southern Berkshires near Great Barrington. The campground features 12 well-maintained sites, several of which are positioned directly along the shore of Benedict Pond, offering campers immediate access to swimming and fishing. After a four-year upgrade project, the campground now features two bathrooms with flush toilets and running water, multiple water spigots throughout the site, and updated amenities. Each campsite comes equipped with a fire ring, picnic table, and food storage locker. The surrounding forest offers excellent hiking on the Appalachian Trail and other trails, as well as cross-country skiing and snowmobiling in winter. This is a primitive campground with no hookups, dump station, or showers. RVs are limited to 25 feet. Camping is by reservation only through ReserveAmerica; same-day reservations are accepted until 2 p.m. but walk-in camping is not permitted.
