About
Beartooth Lake Campground occupies a stunning high-alpine setting along the shores of Beartooth Lake at approximately 9,000 feet elevation in the Shoshone National Forest. Located just off US Highway 212, the Beartooth All-American Highway, the campground provides access to exceptional mountain scenery and numerous nearby lakes. The 21 sites are equipped with picnic tables and bear boxes for mandatory food storage. Amenities include vault toilets and potable water from a hand pump. A boat ramp within the campground provides access to Beartooth Lake for motorized and non-motorized boating, while nearby trails offer day hiking and backpacking opportunities. The area is excellent for lake and pond fishing, wildlife viewing, and scenic photography. There is no cell service. A nearby store provides supplies. The campground operates seasonally, typically from late June through early September, depending on snow conditions along the Beartooth Highway. When the campground is officially closed, walk-in camping is permitted without fees or services. Sites are first-come, first-served with a 16-day stay limit. Bear-resistant food storage is required throughout the season.
