About
Bay City State Park's modern campground sits in a mature oak stand along the shores of Saginaw Bay, offering 189 electrical sites with convenient access to one of Michigan's premier coastal destinations. The campground features mostly wooded sites with 20/30-amp electrical service, with select sites offering 50-amp service. A sanitation station with potable water and two lanes serves registered campers, and a toilet and shower building provides modern facilities. The park encompasses over 2,000 acres of diverse habitats, including the Tobico Marsh, one of the largest remaining freshwater coastal wetlands on the Great Lakes. Campers can explore seven miles of trails through wetlands, woods, and prairies, enjoy over 1,000 feet of sandy beach with a buoyed swim area, and visit the award-winning Saginaw Bay Visitor Center. The park is a birdwatcher's paradise, particularly during spring and fall migrations when the wetlands serve as a vital staging area for migratory birds. Recreational opportunities include fishing from an accessible pier in the Tobico Lagoon for pike, carp, bass, and panfish, biking on park roads and trails, and winter activities like cross-country skiing and ice fishing. The park also features a spray park, playground, observation towers, and five rentable picnic shelters. The campground has a playground with slides and swings, and Wi-Fi is available near the campground host site.
