Ranch Rustic Campground sits within Rifle River State Recreation Area, a sprawling 4,449-acre natural area in Michigan's lower peninsula. The campground features approximately 25 large, rustic campsites that provide ample space for campers seeking a quieter, more primitive camping experience. The sites are nestled along the Rifle River, offering direct access to this gentle waterway known for excellent paddling and fishing opportunities. The recreation area encompasses 10 no-wake lakes and ponds, including Grousehaven and Devoe Lakes, along with several scenic streams that wind through the property. With 14 miles of interconnected trails, visitors can explore diverse habitats through hiking, mountain biking, and wildlife viewing. The park's natural features include forests, wetlands, and riparian areas that support a variety of fish and wildlife species. As a rustic campground, Ranch offers a more primitive camping experience compared to the modern Grousehaven Campground elsewhere in the park. The location provides a peaceful base for exploring the river system, trails, and backcountry areas of this northern Michigan recreation area. A Michigan Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry to all state park facilities.

From Lupton, Michigan, head east on Rose City Road for approximately 2 miles. The entrance to Rifle River Recreation Area will be on your right.
