Rifle River Grousehaven Modern Campground is a well-appointed camping destination within Michigan's Rifle River State Recreation Area, offering 75 electric sites divided between two distinct loops. The Upper Loop provides elevated views overlooking Grousehaven Lake, while the Lower Loop sits at lake level, providing easy water access. Both loops are situated in a wooded setting that provides natural privacy and shade. The campground features modern amenities including an accessible toilet and shower building, making it suitable for extended stays. A designated swim beach with accessible beach mats and a beach wheelchair offers excellent lake recreation. Campers enjoy access to the park's extensive 14-mile multiuse trail system, perfect for hiking and mountain biking. The recreation area encompasses over 4,449 acres with 10 no-wake lakes and ponds, the Rifle River, and scenic streams, providing abundant opportunities for fishing, paddling, and wildlife viewing. Rifle River Recreation Area offers year-round recreation. In summer, visitors enjoy swimming, fishing for bluegill, bass, northern pike, yellow perch, and trout, as well as paddling the calm waters. Winter brings opportunities for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing, and snowmobiling on park roads when snow depths reach 4 inches or more. The campground's winter camping capability makes it an excellent base for cold-weather outdoor enthusiasts.
