About

Grousehaven Modern Campground occupies a prime location directly on Grousehaven Lake in the Rifle River State Recreation Area. The campground features approximately 75-80 electric sites arranged in two loops: the Upper Loop overlooks the lake from higher ground, while the Lower Loop sits at lake level. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and 20/30-amp electric hookup on a gravel pad. The recreation area spans 4,449 acres of forested hills, wetlands, and over 10 no-wake lakes and ponds connected by 14 miles of multiuse trails. Grousehaven Lake itself is paddle-only, making it ideal for kayaking and paddleboarding without motorized boat traffic. The campground's swim beach includes accessible beach mats to the water's edge and a beach wheelchair available for guests. Beyond camping, the area offers a 3-D archery range open April through October, an observation tower, a swinging bridge across the Rifle River, and excellent fishing opportunities throughout the park's lakes and streams.

Directions

From I-75, take exit 202 onto M-33 North. Continue approximately 15 miles to Rose City Road (F-28). Turn right (east) onto Rose City Road and continue about 5 miles to the park entrance at 2550 E. Rose City Road, Lupton, MI 48635.
