About

Devoe Lake Rustic Campground sits within the 4,329-acre Rifle River State Recreation Area in Michigan's AuSable State Forest. The campground's 58 sites are spread across five wooded loops on the shores of Devoe Lake, one of ten no-wake lakes and ponds in the recreation area. Spring-fed and clear, the lake offers a designated swimming beach and canoe launch, with fishing opportunities for bluegill, largemouth bass, northern pike, yellow perch, and stocked trout. The recreation area features 14 miles of multiuse trails for hiking and mountain biking, an observation tower, a suspension bridge crossing the Rifle River, and a 3-D archery range. Each campsite includes a fire ring and picnic table, with vault toilets and potable water spaced throughout the loops. The rustic setting provides a quiet, back-to-nature experience without electrical hookups. Reservations are available through the Michigan DNR reservation system. The recreation area also offers modern campgrounds with hookups elsewhere in the park, along with an accessible kayak launch and fishing pier.
