Round Lake Campground is a rustic, wooded camping area offering 33 sites across two loops in the Huron-Manistee National Forest. The campground provides the only public access to the 91-acre Round Lake, which is otherwise surrounded by private land. Campers can enjoy a sandy beach perfect for relaxing, a gravel boat ramp for launching motorized and non-motorized boats, and excellent fishing opportunities for sunfish, bass and pike. The campground offers a peaceful forest setting with vault toilets, garbage service, and picnic tables and fire rings at each campsite. Approximately a quarter of the sites have access to water via hand pump. The nearby Sand Lake Day Use Area provides additional recreation opportunities with a beach and picnic area on the 248-acre Sand Lake. Located in the village of Sand Lake, the campground offers convenient access to groceries and fuel. Visitors can explore Lumberman's Monument Visitor's Center less than 15 miles away, enjoy nearby hiking trails, and participate in bird watching and hunting during appropriate seasons. The campground operates seasonally and is gated when closed.

Directions

From the east, leave M-55 at its intersection with Plank Road near Tawas City and follow Plank Road for 7 miles. Curve left on Indian Lake Road for 1/4 mile, then turn right on Latham Road for 1/2 mile. From the west, leave M-55 approximately 6 miles east of its intersection with M-65, turn north on Sand Lake Road for 3 miles to Indian Lake Road. Turn left and travel 2.5 miles to Latham Road, then left for 1/2 mile.
