Closed — Closed for the season. The campground typically operates from May through October. Modern toilet and shower buildings close after mid-October, though vault toilets remain available for cabin rentals through late April. Reservations available through Michigan DNR.

Albert E. Sleeper State Park Campground sits within 723 acres of forest, wetlands, and forested dunes along Lake Huron's Saginaw Bay in Michigan's Thumb. The modern campground features 226 generously-sized sites shaded by mature oaks and pines, each with 30- or 50-amp electrical service. Four ADA-accessible sites are located near an accessible toilet and shower building. The campground includes a sanitation station, modern restrooms with showers, vault toilets, a playground, and WiFi. The day-use area across M-25/Port Austin Road features half a mile of sandy beach with a beach house, buoyed swim area, and picnic facilities, accessible via a convenient pedestrian overpass. The park offers excellent fishing access to Lake Huron, a fish cleaning station, and trails for hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. A track chair is available for visitors needing accessibility assistance. Paddlers can launch into Saginaw Bay or explore the nearby Pigeon and Pinnebog rivers. The charming town of Caseville is a short drive away, and hikers can trek to see the iconic Turnip Rock formation at Point aux Barques.

Directions

From Bay City, exit I-75 at M-25 and go east 55 miles to the park entrance, located 5 miles east of Caseville. From Bad Axe, take M-53 north 10 miles, west on Kinde Road 10 miles, north on State Park Road 3.5 miles, then west on M-25 a short distance to the park entrance at 6573 State Park Road, Caseville.
