Battle Ground State Park Campground

Open — Open year-round for camping. Park gates open at 8:00 a.m. during winter months. The camp store operates weekends only April through Memorial Day and daily during summer through Labor Day.

About

Battle Ground Lake State Park Campground encompasses 280 acres of beautiful forested land in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, just a short drive from Vancouver and Portland. The centerpiece is a spring-fed volcanic lake, often described as a miniature version of Oregon's Crater Lake, which draws visitors for swimming, fishing, and non-motorized boating. The campground offers a variety of camping options including standard sites, partial hookup sites for RVs up to 35 feet, and primitive sites that require a hike of up to half a mile from the parking lot. Equestrian campsites and four rental cabins nestled among Douglas fir groves are also available. The park features extensive trail systems that circle the lake and traverse the forested areas, accommodating hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders. Amenities include restrooms with showers, a dump station, drinking water, and fire pits at campsites. The park operates a camp store during peak season offering hot foods, snacks, camping supplies, and kayak and paddleboard rentals. Kitchen shelters are available for day use, with one reservable shelter accommodating up to 150 people. Rainbow and coastal cutthroat trout are stocked in the lake during late winter through spring, making it popular with anglers. The park's accessibility to major highways combined with its natural setting make it a favored escape for families seeking outdoor recreation year-round.
