About

Applewhite Campground sits three miles north of the Lytle Creek Ranger Station in San Bernardino National Forest, providing an accessible escape from the nearby urban areas of the Inland Empire. The campground is divided into Upper and Lower loops with approximately 43 sites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring with grill. Tree cover provides shade throughout, and Lytle Creek flows across the road at Applewhite Picnic Area, offering a cooling spot to relax. Site types vary: some accommodate tents only with 30-foot driveways, while others with longer driveways (up to 50 feet) allow RVs, trailers, fifth wheels, pickup campers, and pop-ups. There are no hookups, showers, or dump station on site. Flush toilets and potable water are normally provided. Reservations can be made up to 12 months in advance via Recreation.gov, though some sites operate first-come, first-served. The area offers opportunities for day hikes in the Lytle Creek drainage and OHV recreation in the nearby Cajon Pass area. Green/red sticker OHV vehicles are prohibited within the campground. Quiet hours are strictly enforced from 10 PM to 6 AM, with a 5 MPH speed limit throughout.
