About

Manker Flat Campground perches at 6,000 feet on Mt. Baldy Road in the Angeles National Forest, within the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument. The 21 campsites accommodate tents and small RVs up to 16 feet, with no hookups available. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and access to bear boxes for food storage. Vault toilets serve the campground, and piped water is available during warmer months but shut off when temperatures drop to freezing. The campground positions hikers within easy reach of major trails. The Mt. Baldy Bowl trailhead leads to an 11.3-mile loop combining Devil's Backbone to the 10,069-foot summit. For a shorter outing, the 1.4-mile round trip to San Antonio Falls offers views of the 75-foot cascade. The nearby Mt. Baldy Schoolhouse and Visitor Center provides interpretive exhibits on the area's Native American heritage. Bear activity is high throughout this area. Campers should use the provided bear boxes or personal bear canisters and eliminate food scents from vehicles and tents. During high fire danger periods, campfire restrictions may prohibit open fires and portable stoves.
