Forest Order No. 05-01-25-13, Camping Equipment Prohibition

About
Camp high in the clouds at Manker Campground, located at 6,000 feet elevation in the Angeles National Forest. This intimate campground offers 21 first-come, first-served sites, each equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and vault toilets. The campground is designed for smaller RVs up to 16 feet with no hookups available. Bears are very active in this area, and all sites include bear-proof storage lockers. Campers must use these bear boxes or personal bear canisters to store all food and scented items. The campground provides seasonal piped water from an outdoor faucet, though water is turned off during winter months when freezing temperatures occur. Visitors should bring their own water or be prepared to treat stream water if available. Manker Campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the Mt. Baldy area. Hikers can access several trailheads including the Mt. Baldy Bowl Trail, which connects with Devil's Backbone to create an impressive 11.3-mile loop to the 10,069-foot summit. For a more casual outing, the 1.4-mile round trip to the 75-foot San Antonio Falls is nearby. The historic Mt. Baldy Schoolhouse and Visitor Center are within a short drive, offering insight into the area's Native American heritage.

From Foothill Blvd. in Claremont, take Mills Ave. north until it turns into Mt. Baldy Road. Drive 12 miles north on Mt. Baldy Rd. past Mt. Baldy Village to the campground. Foothill Blvd. can be reached by taking Mountain Ave. north from Interstate 10.
