About

Blue Ridge Campground is a primitive high-elevation campground located at 8,000 feet in the San Gabriel Mountains, directly adjacent to the Pacific Crest Trail and Blue Ridge Trail. The campground offers 8 first-come, first-served campsites, each equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring. Vault toilets are provided, but no potable water is available, so visitors must bring sufficient water for all needs including cooking, drinking, and extinguishing campfires. The campground is open year-round but access varies by season. From mid-November through late April or early May, Blue Ridge Road (Forest Service Road 3N06) closes seasonally after Mountain High Resort's ski season begins and remains closed until roads become clear and passable in spring. During this winter period, the campground is hike-in only, requiring a 3-mile trek from either Inspiration Point on Angeles Crest Highway or the Blue Ridge Trailhead. When the road is open during summer and fall months, vehicles up to 20 feet in length can access the campground, though no hookups are available. The location provides excellent access to Pacific Crest Trail hiking and is popular with through-hikers and backpackers. An Adventure Pass or America the Beautiful Pass is required for each vehicle. The campground charges $5 per night for overnight stays when accessed by vehicle, though only the day-use pass fee applies during winter hike-in access.

Directions

From Wrightwood, take Angeles Crest Highway west approximately 5 miles to Inspiration Point. When Blue Ridge Road is open (late April/early May through mid-November), take Blue Ridge Road 3 miles to the campground. During winter closure, hike 3 miles from Inspiration Point.
