About

Lupine Campground sits at 6,500 feet elevation in a remote section of the San Gabriel Mountains within Angeles National Forest. This primitive campground features 11 first-come, first-served campsites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. The campground has vault toilets but no potable water, so visitors must bring their own supply. Access to Lupine Campground requires traveling along Blue Ridge Road (Forest Service Road 3N06), which is seasonally closed from early-to-mid November through late April to early May due to winter conditions. During road closure periods, the campground remains open but is accessible only by hiking, mountain biking, or horseback riding approximately 9 miles from the Inspiration Point gate on Angeles Crest Highway. When the road is open, 4x4 vehicles are highly recommended due to poor road conditions and severely overgrown sections beyond the campground. The campground operates year-round on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations. An Adventure Pass ($5 daily or $30 annually) or valid Interagency Pass is required for vehicle parking. Overnight camping costs $5 per night, with a 50% discount available to Senior and Access Pass holders. The remote location and challenging access make this a destination for experienced campers seeking solitude in the Angeles National Forest.

Directions

From Angeles Crest Highway (Highway 2) approximately 5 miles west of Wrightwood, turn onto Blue Ridge Road (Forest Service Road 3N06) and drive approximately 9 miles to the campground. Road is seasonally closed from early-to-mid November through late April to early May. When open, 4x4 vehicles are highly recommended due to poor road conditions.
