About

Located along the scenic Lochsa River and accessed by U.S. Highway 12, Apgar Campground offers a peaceful retreat on a river terrace filled with giant western red cedar and Douglas fir trees. This rustic Forest Service campground features aggregate surfaced roads and basic amenities including vault toilets, picnic tables, and campfire rings at each site. The campground is situated in the Lochsa-Highway 12 Corridor along the Middle Fork Clearwater Wild and Scenic River, providing excellent access to river fishing and road cycling along the historic Lewis and Clark Highway. The setting is quiet and shaded, offering a classic national forest camping experience with the soothing sounds of the Lochsa River nearby. Apgar operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. The campground can accommodate RVs up to 24 feet in length. Campers should note that potable water is not available on-site and should bring adequate supplies. The campground is typically open from May through September, closing for winter when Highway 12 conditions become challenging.
