Mystery Saddle Camp
Closed — Likely closed for winter due to snow and road conditions. Access is seasonal, typically from summer through early fall depending on weather and road maintenance.
About
Mystery Saddle Camp is a dispersed camping area within the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests in Idaho County, north-central Idaho. The site is located in remote backcountry terrain, characteristic of the 4 million acres of diverse landscapes that make up these combined national forests. The Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests encompass rugged canyons, dense forests, and mountainous terrain, with nearly half dedicated as wilderness. This area provides access to primitive camping experiences in a truly wild setting. Due to its remote location and elevation, access is seasonal and dependent on road conditions. Campers should be prepared for primitive conditions with no developed amenities and should practice Leave No Trace principles.
Directions
From Highway 12 near Syringa, Idaho, take Saddle Camp Road northward. The road is relatively easy to navigate, winding through dense forests and offering access to the historic Lolo Motorway.
