About

Angel Lake Campground occupies a stunning high-alpine setting at 8,400 feet in the East Humboldt Range of northeastern Nevada. The campground wraps around the shore of Angel Lake, a glacial lake nestled beneath rugged cirques topping out around 10,000 feet. Dwarf aspens provide privacy between sites but offer little shade. The lake supports rainbow, brook, and tiger trout, and non-motorized boats are welcome for fishing and paddling. Smith Lake Trailhead at the campground entrance accesses the northern East Humboldts Wilderness, while another trailhead nearby leads south to Winchell Lake. Wildlife viewing opportunities abound, with bighorn sheep, mountain goats, mule deer, and birds of prey regularly spotted around the lake. Each of the 26 campsites includes a picnic table, fire ring, and grill. Vault toilets are available, but there is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. The nearest services are 8 miles away in Wells. The campground operates seasonally from Memorial Day through Labor Day, with most sites reservable through Recreation.gov and a few available first-come, first-served.
