About

Terraces Campground - Picnic Area sits high in Lamoille Canyon within the stunning Ruby Mountains of northeastern Nevada. At an elevation of 8,000 feet, this group facility is surrounded by a dense stand of mature aspens that provide partial shade and spectacular fall colors. The site offers breathtaking views of jagged canyon walls and surrounding peaks. The facility functions as both a reservable group overnight campground and a day-use picnic area. When reserved, it accommodates up to 75 people across nine individual family picnic sites. When not reserved, the individual sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis for day-use picnics. The site features vault toilets, potable water, trash collection, picnic tables, and BBQ grills. A large paved parking area accommodates up to 17 vehicles, and footpaths within the site are paved for accessibility. Lamoille Creek runs just outside the picnic area and is popular among fly-fishermen for brook and wild rainbow trout. The canyon offers numerous hiking and horseback riding trails that lead to alpine lakes and vistas. The Lamoille Canyon Scenic Byway itself is popular for scenic driving and road biking, while the vertical canyon walls provide rock-climbing routes for various skill levels. The area is part of the Ruby Mountains, often called Nevada's Yosemite, a desert mountain range brimming with wildlife, sparkling streams, wildflower meadows, and peaks exceeding 11,000 feet.
