Terraces Campground - Picnic Area
Closed for the season. The campground typically opens Memorial Day weekend and closes after Labor Day. Reservations for group use available through Recreation.gov.
About
Terraces Overnight Group Area sits at 8,000 feet in Lamoille Canyon within the Ruby Mountains, surrounded by jagged peaks and aspen groves that offer spectacular fall colors. The facility can be reserved as a complete group site for up to 75 people or individual sites used first-come, first-served for day-use picnics when not reserved. The area features nine family picnic sites equipped with tables and grills, vault toilets, potable water, and trash collection. A paved parking area accommodates 17 vehicles and paved footpaths connect the sites. This is a tent-only facility with no RV camping. Lamoille Creek flows adjacent to the site, offering excellent fly fishing for brook and rainbow trout. The canyon provides access to numerous hiking and horseback riding trails leading to alpine lakes and high mountain vistas. The Lamoille Canyon Scenic Byway is popular for scenic driving and road cycling.
