About

Tomera Cove is a group use camping area within South Fork State Recreation Area, situated on the scenic 1,650-acre South Fork Reservoir in northeastern Nevada. The site takes its name from the historic Tomera Ranch, which was established in the area during the 1860s settlement period and later sold to the State of Nevada in the early 1980s. The cove offers a basic but functional group camping setup with 2 picnic tables and 1 fire ring, ideal for groups seeking a lakeside camping experience. The broader South Fork State Recreation Area provides additional amenities that Tomera Cove campers can access. Flush restrooms with free showers are available at the East Campground, and an RV dump station is located near the main north park entrance, open year-round. The reservoir offers excellent fishing opportunities including trout, bass, and catfish, with a designated trophy fishery section along the South Fork Humboldt River featuring catch-and-release regulations. The park remains open year-round, with camping limited to 14 consecutive nights per 30-day period. Campfires are permitted only in designated fire rings. Pets are welcome but must remain on a leash no longer than 6 feet. Quiet hours are enforced from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. The area also offers opportunities for wildlife viewing, with mule deer, beavers, badgers, and various waterfowl commonly spotted around the reservoir.
