About

Thomas Canyon Campground is located in the scenic Lamoille Canyon, roughly 30 miles southeast of Elko in Nevada's Ruby Mountains. Sitting at 7,200 feet elevation at the mouth of Thomas Canyon, the campground features 40 sites across three loops (A, B, and C) offering standard, RV, and tent-only options. Groves of aspen and cottonwood trees provide partial shade and spectacular fall color, while Lamoille Creek flows through the area. The campground serves as the trailhead for Thomas Canyon Trail, which climbs past several waterfalls through alpine meadows into a dramatic glacial cirque. Lamoille Canyon offers numerous additional hiking and horseback riding trails leading to alpine lakes and panoramic vistas. Fly fishing for brook and wild rainbow trout in Lamoille Creek is popular, and the canyon road draws scenic drivers and road cyclists. Rock climbing routes are found on the surrounding canyon walls. Each campsite includes a picnic table, fire ring, and grill. Vault toilets and potable water are available during the reservation season. During the late-season first-come, first-served period, water is turned off and no campground host is present. Dogs must be leashed; stock animals are prohibited.
