South Fork State Recreation Area East Campground is a 25-site developed campground located off the north park access road along South Fork Reservoir in Elko County, Nevada. The campground sits approximately 20 miles south of Elko with the Ruby Mountains providing a scenic backdrop. Each campsite includes a table and grill, and the campground features flush restrooms with showers. Six sites (5, 9, 11, 19, 20, and 25) are pull-in sites accommodating RVs and trailers. Power hookups are available at all sites for a mandatory $10 fee. The reservoir is known for excellent fishing opportunities, holding catfish, bass, and trophy-sized rainbow and brown trout. The South Fork of the Humboldt River section is designated as a trophy fishery with special regulations. Wildlife viewing is excellent year-round, with frequent sightings of mule deer, badgers, beavers, kit foxes, and waterfowl including ducks and geese. The park's flourishing meadows and rolling hills provide habitat for diverse northeastern Nevada wildlife. Recreational opportunities include boating, swimming, fishing, and hiking on designated trails. An RV dump station is available year-round near the main entrance. Sites 1 and 25 feature three picnic tables and a large grill for group camping. The campground enforces a 14-day limit within any 30-day period. While the main boat ramp closes for winter, the campground remains open year-round with ranger station services available on weekdays during winter months.

Directions

Located approximately 20 miles south of Elko off State Route 228. The campground is accessed from the north park access road near the entrance station.
