About
South Fork State Recreation Area's East Campground occupies a scenic location on the shores of South Fork Reservoir, approximately five miles south of Elko in northeastern Nevada. The campground offers 25 developed sites on gravel pads, each equipped with a picnic table and grill. Electric hookups are available at all sites for an additional fee. Six pull-through sites (5, 9, 11, 19, 20, and 25) accommodate larger RVs up to 40 feet in length. The facility includes a flush restroom with shower facilities and an RV dump station accessible year-round from the main north park entrance road. Sites 1 and 25 feature expanded amenities with three picnic tables and a large grill, suitable for group camping. One ADA-accessible site is available. The 1,650-acre reservoir provides fishing opportunities for largemouth bass, channel catfish, and trophy-sized rainbow and brown trout. Boating, swimming, and hunting are popular activities in the surrounding 4,000-acre recreation area, which features rolling hills and meadows characteristic of the Ruby Mountains foothills.
