About

Angel Creek Campground is nestled in the grassy foothills of the East Humboldt Mountain Range at 6,500 feet elevation, just eight miles southwest of Wells, Nevada. The campground sits among mature aspen groves that provide partial shade and spectacular fall color displays, with wildflowers dotting the landscape throughout the summer months. Angel Lake, located just four miles from the campground, is a major draw for visitors seeking canoeing and fishing opportunities for rainbow and brook trout. The Smith Lake Trail begins at the campground entrance with designated day-use parking, providing access to the northern portion of the East Humboldt Wilderness. The area is home to diverse wildlife including bighorn sheep, mountain goats, deer, and various birds of prey, offering excellent viewing opportunities. The campground features a mix of reservable and first-come, first-served sites, including individual campsites and a group tent site that can accommodate up to 30 people and six tents with parking for six vehicles. Standard amenities include vault toilets, potable water during peak season, picnic tables, fire rings, and trash collection. Sites are priced at $17 per night for single sites and $34 per night for double sites, with a 50% discount available for Interagency Senior/Access Pass holders on single sites only.

Directions

Take Interstate 80 to the West Wells exit. Turn south on Angel Lake Road (State Route 231) and travel 8 miles to Angel Creek. Turn left and follow the road for 1 mile to the campground.
