About
Powerhouse Group Picnic Area sits at the mouth of Lamoille Canyon in the Ruby Mountains, part of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. At 6,500 feet elevation, the site offers a shady setting surrounded by aspens with Lamoille Creek running through. The facility was constructed in 2003 and is fully ADA accessible. The large covered shelter includes picnic and serving tables, two grills, and a campfire circle with benches. Vault toilets and trash collection are provided, but no potable water is available. The site accommodates parking for 25-30 vehicles, making it suitable for weddings, reunions, and large group events. Lamoille Creek provides fishing opportunities for rainbow and brook trout. The nearby Lamoille Canyon Scenic Byway is popular for scenic drives and road biking, with numerous hiking and horseback trails leading to alpine lakes and scenic vistas in the Ruby Mountains.
