About
Clear Lake Campsite offers a secluded lakefront camping experience on the eastern shore of Clear Lake in the Hiawatha National Forest. This single-site campground measures 50 by 30 feet and can accommodate up to 8 people with 2 vehicles. The site is adjacent to a public boat launch, making it ideal for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing for yellow perch, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, and occasional splake. This is a truly primitive camping experience with no amenities. There is no drinking water, no toilets, and no trash service—campers must pack out everything they bring in. Campfires are allowed using only dead and downed wood collected on-site; bringing outside firewood is prohibited. The site features a pull-through gravel driveway suitable for vehicles and trailers up to 20 feet. The campground operates from May 15 through Columbus Day with reservations required through Recreation.gov. After Columbus Day through May 15, the site may be used without reservation or fee, though it becomes inaccessible during snow season. Campers should expect public users to cross their site to access the adjacent boat launch.
