About
Burnt Corral Campground and Recreation Area occupies one of the most scenic stretches of the Sonoran Desert, perched on the south shoreline of Apache Lake about 5.8 miles south of historic Roosevelt Dam. The 17-mile-long reservoir is the longest in the Salt River chain, framed by the dramatic backdrop of Four Peaks and Superstition Wilderness. Saguaros, palo verdes, and mature mesquites provide scattered shade across the 76 developed campsites. Each site includes a parking spur, fire ring with grill, shade ramada, and picnic table. Facilities include vault toilets, potable water from hand pumps, and trash receptacles. A paved boat launch and boarding dock provide direct lake access for motorboating, water-skiing, fishing, and paddlesports. The campground is ADA-accessible with slopes under 5% and compacted gravel surfaces. Maximum vehicle length is 40 feet; trailers are limited to 22 feet. Nearby attractions include Roosevelt Dam, Tonto National Monument cliff dwellings, Apache Lake Marina, Tortilla Flat, and the Apache Trail Scenic Byway. A dump station is available 5 miles north at Cholla Campground. Summer temperatures routinely exceed 100°F.
