About

East Maroon Portal Picnic Site is a day-use facility located along Maroon Creek in Colorado's White River National Forest, within the renowned Maroon Bells Scenic Area. The site offers stunning views of red stone cliffs, wetlands, and evergreen forests at the edge of the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness. The picnic area can accommodate up to 70 people and is equipped with three large picnic tables, vault toilets, and bear-proof food lockers and waste receptacles. No potable water is available. The site is open for general public use but can be reserved for private events, making it the only location in the Maroon Bells Scenic Area permitted for wedding receptions. Vehicle traffic is restricted on Maroon Creek Road from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. past the Maroon Bells Welcome Station. Reservations include five vehicle passes; other visitors must use the shuttle bus. This is strictly a day-use facility with no overnight camping allowed.
