About

Kelley Guard Station is a historic Forest Service guard station built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1933. Situated at 8,200 feet elevation on a grassy clearing surrounded by mixed conifers, the cabin offers a serene setting with Kelley Creek flowing alongside. Wildlife including moose, elk, eagles, and sandhill cranes frequent the area. The two-room cabin sleeps four people on two bunk beds with mattresses. The kitchen is equipped with a propane range/oven, refrigerator, propane lights, and a wood cook stove for supplemental heat. During summer months, the cabin has running water with a flush toilet, bathroom sink, shower, and kitchen sink. Winter visitors must use the outhouse and bring their own water. Some dishes, pots, pans, and utensils may be available but are not guaranteed. Summer access requires a high-clearance vehicle on gravel and dirt roads approximately 45 miles north of Kemmerer. Winter access is by snowmobile only via a 10-mile trail. The surrounding area offers hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, fishing, and OHV riding in summer, with snowmobiling and cross-country skiing available directly from the cabin in winter.

From Kemmerer, WY, follow US Highway 189 north to the junction of Wyoming Highway 233 and Ham's Fork Road.
