About

Cottonwood Group Picnic Site sits at 7,000 feet elevation in the Salt River Mountains within Bridger-Teton National Forest, overlooking scenic Cottonwood Lake. This day-use facility is surrounded by pines and aspens with abundant summer wildflowers and peaceful North Fork Creek nearby. The site is designed for groups up to 50 people with parking for approximately 8 vehicles. Amenities include two large picnic tables, an accessible fire ring, vault toilets, and bear-resistant garbage cans (bring your own bags). Potable water availability is inconsistent; visitors should bring their own water supply. Cottonwood Lake offers canoeing and boating for smaller craft (no ramp) and fishing for brook and cutthroat trout. Trails for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and ATV use are accessible from the area. Overnight camping is prohibited at this picnic site but is available at the adjacent Cottonwood Lake Campground or at the reservable group campsite.
