Rock Creek Campground is nestled in a dense coastal rainforest of spruce and Douglas fir within Siuslaw National Forest, where mosses drape branches and ferns blanket the forest floor. The 14 sites are arranged along Rock Creek, just off Highway 101 on the Oregon Coast. A beach and day-use parking area are accessible within a half-mile, offering opportunities to view Pacific sunsets, shorebirds, sea lions, and migrating whales. Anglers will find good fishing for cutthroat trout and salmon in Rock Creek. The nearby Rock Creek Wilderness Area encompasses about 7,500 acres of dense coniferous rainforest, with bigleaf maple and red alder lining the creeks and rhododendrons dotting the forest floor. Cape Perpetua Visitor Center, just a few miles north, offers ocean views, whale watching in season, tide pool exploration, and access to a 23-mile trail system through old-growth forests.
Directions
From Yachats, Oregon, take Highway 101 south about 10 miles. The campground is on the left (east) side of the highway. From Florence, drive 14 miles north on Highway 101.
