About
Mosomo Point Campground is situated on a wooded peninsula between Little and Big Cut Foot Sioux Lakes in the heart of Minnesota's Chippewa National Forest. The 23 sites are shaded by mature red and white pine trees and offer a protected cove setting ideal for flatwater paddling. The campground serves as an excellent basecamp for anglers targeting walleye, perch, and trophy muskie in Cut Foot Sioux Lake and nearby Lake Winnibigoshish, one of Minnesota's premier fisheries. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring. Vault toilets and hand-pump drinking water are available. The campground has no hookups, showers, or dump station. Pets are allowed on leashes no longer than 6 feet. Quiet hours run from 10 PM to 6 PM and generators are prohibited during this time. The Cut Foot Sioux Visitor Information Center is located half a mile from the campground and offers interpretive displays, educational programs, and trail access. The Simpson Creek Trail and Cut Foot Sioux National Recreation Area Trail provide opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, and birding. Loons, osprey, and bald eagles are commonly spotted on the lake.
Directions
From Deer River, travel north on Highway 46 for 19 miles. Turn west on Forest Road 2190 about a half-mile past the Cut Foot Sioux Visitor Center. Continue to the campground.
