About

Winnie Campground is remotely situated on the western shore of Lake Winnibigoshish in the heart of the Chippewa National Forest, approximately 18 miles from Cass Lake, Minnesota. The campground features 35 sites surrounded by scenic mature red and white pine forest, with some sites offering views of the lake. The rustic, peaceful setting makes it ideal for campers seeking a more remote experience. Lake Winnibigoshish, locally known as "Lake Winnie," spans 67,000 acres with 141 miles of largely undeveloped shoreline, making it one of Minnesota's premier fisheries. The lake offers excellent fishing opportunities for trophy muskie, walleye, and perch. A boat ramp and harbor are conveniently located next to the campground. The area also features numerous hiking and biking trails that meander around the lake and through the surrounding forest. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring. The campground provides vault toilets and hand-pumped drinking water. Some sites are very large and suitable for groups. A picnic area is adjacent to the campground, and hunting areas can be found in the surrounding national forest. The town of Cass Lake, 25 miles west, offers restaurants, grocery stores, and other services.

Directions

From Cass Lake, Minnesota take Highway 2 six miles east. Turn north on County Road 10 and drive two miles to County Road 91, turn right onto County Road 91 and follow for 3.2 miles to Forest Road 2171. Drive six miles northeast on Forest Road 2171 to Forest Road 2168, then four miles south to the campground.
