About

Winnie Campground offers a secluded camping experience on Minnesota's fourth-largest lake, Lake Winnibigoshish, within the Chippewa National Forest. The campground features 34 standard non-electric sites spread through a forest of towering red and white pine, providing shade and privacy. Some sites are notably large and suitable for group camping. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. The adjacent boat ramp and harbor make this an ideal base for anglers targeting the lake's renowned trophy muskie, walleye, and perch populations. Lake Winnibigoshish features 141 miles of shoreline with opportunities for motorized boating and water skiing. Hiking and biking trails are accessible from the area. The campground operates seasonally from early May through mid-October. Black bears are active in the area, and the Chippewa National Forest Food Storage Order requires all food and attractants to be stored in hard-sided vehicles or campers when unattended. Firewood is not sold in the campground; campers may collect dead and down wood from surrounding forest areas or purchase from local vendors. Outside firewood is prohibited to prevent invasive pest introduction.
