Air Quality Alert issued August 6 at 12:29PM PDT by NWS Medford OR
Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has issued an Air Quality Advisory...in effect until 2 PM PDT Friday. Wildfires burning to the north in central Oregon and Washington combined with northerly winds will cause air quality levels to fluctuate and could be at unhealthy levels. Smoke levels will change over the next few days due to varying wind direction and fire activity. People at risk include infants and young children, people with heart or lung disease, older adults and pregnant people. People can take the following precautions to protect their health: * Follow local burn restrictions to prevent deteriorating air quality. * Avoid strenuous outdoor activity during periods of poor air quality. * People with heart or lung problems and young children are especially vulnerable. These people should stay indoors while smoke levels are high. * Use certified High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters in indoor heating, ventilation, cooling and air purification systems. About
Rainbow Bay is a group day-use area situated on the shores of Lake of the Woods, approximately 33 miles northwest of Klamath Falls via Highway 140. The site offers a large beach area and boat ramp, making it popular for swimming, fishing, kayaking, and water skiing. Amenities include picnic tables, BBQ pedestals, fire rings, drinking water, and restrooms. This is strictly a day-use facility with no overnight camping permitted. The group site can accommodate up to 100 people for special events such as family reunions, weddings, and gatherings. Check-in begins at 8:00 AM and checkout is by 10:00 PM. The area lies near the Sky Lakes Wilderness and offers access to hiking trails through towering conifer forests.
Directions
From Klamath Falls, travel 33 miles northwest on Highway 140. Turn south on Forest Road 3701 and continue 0.6 miles to the day-use area.
