About

Virgil Point Campground is a large, grassy campground perched along the banks of Hugo Lake in a forested expanse of southeast Oklahoma. Featuring 51 spacious, modern campsites equipped with 30 or 50 amp electric and water hookups, the campground provides convenient access to the recreational opportunities of Hugo Lake. Amenities include a boat ramp, swimming beach, and comfort stations with flush toilets and hot showers. Hugo Lake Dam, completed in 1974 on the Kiamichi River, creates a diverse aquatic environment that offers exceptional fishing year-round. The northern half of the lake features flooded timber ideal for crappie and bass fishing, while summer catfishing is excellent throughout. The wide-open lower lake provides beautiful limestone rock walls and sandy banks perfect for recreational boating and water sports. Hunters are welcome to explore over 25,000 acres of land managed by the Army Corps of Engineers and Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation. Bow hunting is permitted in and around most park areas. Wildlife viewing opportunities abound, with whitetail deer, waterfowl, mink, fox, and beaver commonly spotted. The area also offers access to nearby Native American cultural centers, Civil War historical sites, and other attractions.
