About
Tionesta Recreation Area Campground sits in the forested area below Tionesta Dam, where the lake winds through the rugged hills of northwestern Pennsylvania. Named by the Seneca tribe as "where the water separates the land," this culturally rich region is located in Forest County, the state's least populated county, where half of the land is preserved as public areas. The campground features 125 campsites with electric hookups, water, and sewer connections. Shower houses and flush restrooms are distributed throughout the four loops for convenient access. Sites accommodate both RVs and tents, with options for one wheeled camper and one tent, or two tents per site. A nearby boat ramp and marina provide easy water access, while a beach area just outside the campground entrance offers swimming and picnicking along Tionesta Creek. The surrounding area is renowned as one of Pennsylvania's premier big game regions, home to abundant wildlife including white-tailed deer, wild turkey, porcupine, osprey, and opossum. Visitors enjoy in-season hunting, fishing, boating, water skiing, and hiking. Adjacent public lands include the Allegheny National Forest, Cooks Forest State Park, Cornplanter and Clear Creek State Forests, and state game lands. The scenic Tionesta Creek Road upstream of the dam offers spectacular valley views for a memorable day trip.
