About
Limber Pine Campground is located along the banks of the Main Fork of Rock Creek in the Custer Gallatin National Forest, approximately 12 miles south of Red Lodge, Montana. Set at an elevation of 8,000 feet in the shadow of the Beartooth Range, the campground is surrounded by aspen and pine forests and sits near the base of the scenic Beartooth Highway switchbacks.
The campground offers 13 sites with a maximum trailer length of 45 feet, making it big rig friendly. Nearby recreation opportunities include fishing for rainbow trout in Rock Creek and 5-acre Greenough Lake, which is also open to non-motorized boating. The area provides access to multiple trailheads leading into the Beartooth Wilderness, including the Lake Fork Trail, Hellroaring Plateau Trail, and Glacier Lake Trail. The Parkside National Recreation Trail offers hiking and mountain biking opportunities, while Hellroaring Road is open to off-road vehicles.
The charming town of Red Lodge offers dining, lodging, galleries, and shops just 12 miles north. The Beartooth Highway, often called the most beautiful drive in America, provides spectacular mountain scenery and leads to Yellowstone National Park's northeast entrance, 55 miles away. Wildlife including grizzly bears, deer, and elk inhabit the surrounding area.
Directions
From Red Lodge, drive south on US Highway 212 for approximately 11 miles. Turn right onto Main Fork Road (Forest Road 2421) and drive 0.9 miles to the campground entrance on the left.
