About

Cascade Campground is located 11 miles west of Red Lodge in southern Montana, conveniently situated along Forest Road 2071, which is paved for most of the route. The campground sits on the banks of the West Fork of Rock Creek in an area transformed by the 2008 Cascade Fire, which left many open glades filled with abundant wildflowers during the summer months. The campground offers 30 single-family campsites, including one accessible site (site #5). Each site is equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring with grill. Accessible vault toilets and drinking water are provided. Campers must deposit trash at receptacles located at nearby Basin Campground. Bears frequent the area, and all food storage regulations must be strictly followed. Fishing is popular along the West Fork of Rock Creek and at nearby Wild Bill Lake, which also offers kayaking and canoeing with an accessible fishing dock. The Basin Lakes Trailhead is three miles away, and trails including Silver Run Plateau, West Fork, and Timberline Lakes provide access to the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness. Mountain bikers can enjoy the Ingles Creek Trail and various loop trails at Silver Run. The charming town of Red Lodge offers dining, lodging, galleries, and shops, while the famous Beartooth Highway provides access to spectacular high-elevation scenery.

Directions

From U.S. Highway 212, go to the south end of Red Lodge. Turn west onto West Fork Rock Creek Road (Forest Road 2071) and travel 11 miles west. The campground is on the left.
