About
Cascade Campground is nestled along the banks of the West Fork of Rock Creek in the Beartooth Ranger District of the Custer Gallatin National Forest. Located 11 miles west of Red Lodge via the mostly paved Forest Road 2071, the campground provides easy access to some of Montana's finest mountain recreation. The surrounding area was affected by the 2008 Cascade Fire, leaving open glades now abundant with wildflowers. The campground offers 30 sites, a mix of reservable and first-come, first-served. Each site includes a picnic table and campfire ring with grill. Vault toilets and drinking water are available. Firewood can be purchased from the campground host at $7 per bundle. Trash service is located at nearby Basin Campground. Fishing is excellent in the West Fork of Rock Creek and at Wild Bill Lake, which features an accessible fishing dock and allows kayaking and canoeing. The Basin Lakes Trailhead is three miles away, providing access to Silver Run Plateau, West Fork, and Timberline Lakes trails into the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness. Mountain bikers enjoy Ingles Creek Trail and various loop trails at Silver Run.
Directions
From U.S. Highway 212, go to the south end of Red Lodge. Turn west onto West Fork Rock Creek Road (Forest Road 2071) and travel 11 miles west. The campground is on the left.
