Rattin Campground is located 7 miles south of Red Lodge, Montana, accessed via East Side Road off the scenic Beartooth Highway. This small campground sits in the shadow of the Beartooth Range along Rock Creek's Main Fork, surrounded by aspen and pine forest. The area offers excellent rainbow trout fishing in Rock Creek, with additional lake fishing, kayaking, and canoeing available at Greenough Lake 8 miles away.
The campground provides convenient access to multiple Beartooth Wilderness trailheads including Hellroaring and Lake Fork, as well as the Beartrack and Corral Creek trailheads. Mountain bikers and hikers enjoy the Parkside National Recreation Trail, while off-road vehicle enthusiasts can explore Hellroaring Road. Wildlife including grizzly bear, deer, and elk inhabit the surrounding area.
The charming town of Red Lodge offers dining, lodging, galleries, and shops. The Beartooth Highway, deemed "the most beautiful drive in America," climbs to the highest elevation highway in the Northern Rockies. Yellowstone National Park's Northeast Entrance is 60 miles away via the Beartooth Highway.
Directions
From Red Lodge, drive south on US Highway 212 for approximately 6-7 miles. Turn left onto Rattin Campground Road/East Side Road (Forest Road 379) and proceed 0.5 miles to the campground entrance on the left.
