About

Cotton Hill Campground is situated on the shores of Walter F. George Lake, a 640-mile shoreline reservoir straddling the Georgia-Alabama border. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this full-service campground provides 91 sites with electric and water hookups, along with 10 primitive sites that have electric and access to group water. The facility reopened in June 2025 following major utility upgrades. Amenities include flush toilets, hot showers, drinking water, laundry facilities, a dump station, boat ramp, fish cleaning station, and two playgrounds. A group picnic shelter is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The campground gate is closed from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. daily. Walter F. George Lake is an angler's paradise known for largemouth bass, white bass, hybrids, crappie, channel catfish, and bream. The surrounding forests consist of dense mixed hardwoods, and wildlife including waterfowl, deer, eagles, hawks, and bobcats are commonly seen. The historic towns of Eufaula, Alabama, and Cuthbert, Georgia, are nearby, with Eufaula featuring over 20 structures on the National Register of Historic Places.
