About

Highland Park sits on the shores of Walter F. George Lake, an 85-mile reservoir along the Chattahoochee River on the Alabama-Georgia border. The facility is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and offers overnight group camping through a reservable shelter with electric hookup, accommodating up to 125 people. The lake is known for excellent fishing, with largemouth bass, white bass, hybrids, crappie, channel catfish, and bream. The 640 miles of shoreline provide numerous bank fishing spots, and a boat ramp is located on-site. A swimming beach and fishing pier offer additional waterfront recreation. The surrounding area features dense mixed hardwood forests where visitors may spot deer, waterfowl, eagles, hawks, bobcats, and various songbirds. Hiking trails and an equestrian trail wind through the property. The historic towns of Eufaula, Alabama and Cuthbert, Georgia are nearby, offering antebellum architecture and amenities.
