About
Highland Park is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers day-use park situated on the shores of Walter F. George Lake, sometimes called Lake Eufaula, which stretches 85 miles along the Chattahoochee River on the Alabama-Georgia border. The facility offers a rentable group shelter with electric hookup and 19 included parking spaces, along with amenities including a boat ramp, swim beach, fishing pier, playground, and equestrian trails. The Chattahoochee River lakes are an angler's paradise, with largemouth bass, white bass, hybrids, crappie, channel catfish, and bream found throughout the 640-mile shoreline. The surrounding lands are forested with dense stands of mixed hardwoods, providing habitat for waterfowl, deer, squirrels, rabbits, eagles, hawks, bobcats, and dozens of species of songbirds. The nearby historic towns of Eufaula, Alabama and Cuthbert, Georgia feature beautiful antebellum mansions and more than 20 structures listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Directions
From Eufaula, Alabama, take US 431 south. Turn left on SR-95, then turn left on CR-97 and continue for 11 miles. Follow signs into day use which will be on the left.
