About
White Oak Creek Day Use Area is located on the shores of Walter F. George Lake, an 85-mile reservoir on the Chattahoochee River that forms the border between Alabama and Georgia. The facility is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and provides day use recreation opportunities in a forested setting.
The area features two reservable group shelters with electricity, flush toilets, drinking water, picnic tables, BBQ grills, and a playground. A boat ramp adjacent to the facility provides convenient access to the lake's 640 miles of shoreline. The lake is known for excellent fishing for largemouth bass, white bass, hybrids, crappie, channel catfish, and bream. Swimming is permitted but there is no designated swimming area.
The surrounding lands are forested with dense stands of mixed hardwoods and support a variety of wildlife including waterfowl, deer, squirrels, rabbits, eagles, hawks, bobcats, and numerous songbird species. The historic town of Eufaula, Alabama is nearby and features more than 20 structures and districts on the National Register of Historic Places. This is a day use area only and does not offer overnight camping.
Directions
