About
George T. Bagby State Park sits along the shores of Lake Walter F. George, one of the largest lakes in the Southeast at 48,000 acres. The park underwent significant renovations completed in early 2026, including a brand new 32-site campground with full hookups designed specifically for RVs. The campground offers both pull-through and back-in configurations with 50-amp electric service, water, and sewer connections at each site. A modern comfort station provides hot showers, flush toilets, and laundry facilities, while lighted pedestrian paths connect the campground to other park amenities along the lakeshore. The lake is renowned for trophy fishing, holding the Georgia state record for blue catfish, and the park provides easy access via a boat ramp, fishing dock, and marina with a store for supplies. Beyond fishing, guests can enjoy the renovated swimming pool, swimming beach (seasonal), and Meadow Links Golf Course offering affordable rounds year-round. The park also features sport courts for pickleball, tennis, and basketball, along with recreational amenities like bocce ball, table tennis, cornhole, and horseshoes. Ten new cottages are available for those preferring cabin accommodations, and group facilities include shelters and an amphitheater. The renovated visitor center houses a retail area and conference facilities.
