About
Hardridge Creek Day Use is a lakeside recreation area situated on the shores of Walter F. George Lake, an 85-mile reservoir stretching along the Chattahoochee River on the Alabama-Georgia border. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this facility serves as a day use recreation area rather than an overnight campground.
The area offers flush toilets, drinking water, picnic tables, a boat ramp, playground, and a reservable group shelter with electricity. A nature trail provides opportunities for hiking and wildlife observation among the dense stands of mixed hardwoods surrounding the lake. Common wildlife sightings include waterfowl, deer, eagles, hawks, and various songbirds.
The lake is an angler's paradise with abundant populations of largemouth bass, white bass, hybrids, crappie, channel catfish, and bream. The 640 miles of shoreline offer excellent bank fishing locations. The historic towns of Eufaula, Alabama and Cuthbert, Georgia are nearby, featuring antebellum architecture and structures on the National Register of Historic Places.
Directions
From Eufaula, Alabama, take US 431 south. Turn left on SR-95, then turn left on CR-97 and continue for 10 miles. Follow signs into the day use area.
