About
East Bank Park is situated on the shores of Walter F. George Lake, an 85-mile reservoir on the Chattahoochee River that stretches along the Georgia-Alabama border. The park offers a group shelter camping facility with electric hookups, making it ideal for organized groups seeking lakeside recreation. The lake, sometimes called Lake Eufaula, is renowned as an angler's paradise with excellent fishing for largemouth bass, white bass, hybrids, crappie, channel catfish, and bream. The park provides flush toilets, drinking water, picnic tables, a boat ramp, playground, and access to trails. The surrounding lands are forested with dense stands of mixed hardwoods, supporting diverse wildlife including waterfowl, deer, squirrels, rabbits, eagles, hawks, bobcats, and numerous songbird species. The lake's 640 miles of shoreline offer exceptional opportunities for bank fishing, boating, and wildlife observation. The historic towns of Eufaula, Alabama and Cuthbert, Georgia are nearby, with Eufaula featuring more than 20 structures and districts on the National Register of Historic Places, including beautiful antebellum mansions. The park enforces strict rules including no alcoholic beverages, no off-road vehicles, no swimming, and no special events without written permission from the Resource Management Office.
