About
Verlot Campground is a quiet, riverfront destination in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, situated just off the Mountain Loop Highway about 11 miles east of Granite Falls. The campground occupies a sunnier, more open setting than neighboring Turlo Campground, with the South Fork Stillaguamish River and Benson Creek accessible from the sites. The historic Verlot Public Service Center, built by the Civilian Conservation Corps and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, sits directly across the highway. The campground features 22 single sites and one double site spread across two loops. Sites accommodate both tent and RV camping, with a maximum vehicle length of 40 feet and 40-foot driveways. Three sites (021, 022, 023) are designated tent-only. Facilities include flush toilets, potable water from hand pumps, and picnic tables. Campfires are permitted and pets are allowed. The surrounding forest offers over 1,500 miles of trails ranging from easy riverside walks to challenging alpine ascents. The nearby Mt. Dickerman Trail climbs 3 miles through regenerating forest to a 5,723-foot summit with panoramic views. The Stillaguamish River provides fishing opportunities for chinook, coho, chum, pink, and sockeye salmon.
